For methodology, the use of quality tools was adopted to create a solid basis for study. A review of literature and bibliographic research was used. Data processing was performed using the data envelopment analysis method, thus helping to optimize the port of Manaus, in order to reduce logistical costs, improving the level of service during the transactions and avoiding the saturation or idleness of the port. It was verified through the DEA that the facilities in the port of Manaus have idle facilities, and may have been a result of negligence in the planning of the port. It is expected that there will be infrastructure improvements to enable full use.Este trabalho apresenta uma proposta de demonstrar o fluxo da movimentação de carga através das operações portuárias na região norte com foco no porto de Manaus, e com isso poder ter uma melhor visualização de sua utilização e eficiência quando comparado a outros portos. Inicialmente são apresentados uma visão geral dos Portos e os elementos que configuram uma operação portuária com ênfase na movimentação de cargas e os recursos necessários para o devido funcionamento e atendimento aos clientes no tempo estimado. Para metodologia adotou-se o uso das ferramentas da qualidade para criar uma base sólida ao estudo. O tratamento de dados foi realizado utilizando o método da análise envoltória de dados para se pudesse ter uma visualização da capacidade e utilização reais bem como fazer um estudo futuro das possibilidades de diminuição de custos logísticos melhorando o nível de serviço durante as transações e evitando a saturação ou ociosidade do porto.
