| Resumo: | Democratizing access to higher education beyond offering vacancies is a key role for Brazilian universities. The objective of the present study is to report the experience of the dynamics of organization, selection and operation of the Curso Pré-Vestibular Popular Liberato, created and developed through the extension project Por Dentro da UFRGS, in Porto Alegre, State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The course is developed with classes throughout a working academic year, being structured and developed by volunteer educators within the perspective of popular education, who are divided into support committees and pedagogical development of the course. A specific annual selection is used with the aim of serving public school students, self-declared blacks, indigenous people and people with disabilities. The course is based on the exchange of experiences and democratic management in constant dialogue with the reality of the students, which has yielded approvals in higher education institutions. |
