description Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) aims to describe a language holistically. A main feature of SFL is the global comprehension of a phenomenon obtained by analyzing its parts. This feature fulfills the goal of this paper, i.e., applying the interpersonal metafunction to analyze two past tenses of the Spanish language classified according to their particular perfect aspect. As a theoretical framework are used the concept of diasystem (Coseriu, 1992), the classification of perfect tenses adopted by Spanish linguistics (Aleza Izquierdo, 2010; RAE, 2008), and the concept of interpersonal metafunction (Fuzer; Cabral, 2014; Ghio; Fernandes, 2008), that enables to analyze the interaction between speakers and listeners, showing the attitudes and the point of view of the speakers.  A segmentation and analysis procedures are used to examine a corpus of press text sentences compiled to do the research. Applying the interpersonal metafunction clearly shows that this construct contributes to a better understanding of some language structures. However, it seems that SFL lacks some limitations in explaining the use of both past tenses of Spanish.

Este atributo se ajusta al objetivo del presente artículo, en el que se busca aplicar la metafunción interpersonal a un fenómeno verbal del español: el uso de dos tiempos pretéritos clasificados en función de su perfectividad. Como marco teórico se asume la concepción diasistémica de una lengua (Coseriu, 1992), la hipótesis de los valores de dichos tiempos según la lingüística hispana (Aleza Izquierdo, 2010; RAE, 2010) y la noción de metafunción interpersonal (Fuzer; Cabral, 2014; Ghio; Fernández, 2008). Esto permite evaluar la interacción entre enunciador e interlocutor y demuestra las actitudes y los puntos de vista de los hablantes. Metodologicamente, se recurre a la división de fragmentos de textos periodísticos en cláusulas y su consecuente análisis. Los resultados obtenidos permiten observar que la metafunción interpersonal puede contribuir para una mejor comprensión de ciertas estructuras de la lengua. No obstante, aparentemente, la teoría todavía no ha explorado fenómenos como el de la perfectividad que proporcionen una explicación acerca de los usos de los pretéritos perfectos del español.A Linguística Sistêmico Funcional almeja descrever fatos da língua de uma forma holística e apresenta como uma das suas principais características a percepção de que o todo se obtém pela análise das partes. Esse traço convém ao objetivo do presente artigo, que é aplicar a metafunção interpessoal a um fenômeno verbal do espanhol, como é o uso de dois tempos passados classificados em função do aspecto perfectividad. Constitui o referencial teórico a concepção de uma língua como diassitema (Coseriu, 1992), a hipótese de valores desses tempos de acordo com a linguística hispânica (Aleza Izquierdo, 2010; RAE, 2010) e a noção de metafunção interpessoal (Fuzer; Cabral, 2014; Ghio; Fernández, 2008), que permite avaliar a interação entre enunciador e interlocutor, demonstrando as atitudes e pontos de vista dos falantes. Metodologicamente, aplicou-se o sistema de segmentação e análise de orações a um conjunto de excertos de textos jornalísticos que constituem o corpus deste artigo.  A partir dos resultados obtidos, observa-se que a aplicação da metafunção interpessoal pode contribuir para uma melhor compreensão de certas estruturas da língua.
