| Sumario: | This article addresses intrinsically urban issues, related to racial and gender inequalities experienced in large cities. For this, we prioritize the experiences of two women (authors of this work) in the community of Coque, in Recife, located in the Brazilian northeast region. There are patterns of land use and population density that reproduce ancient colonial logics based on imperial control and racial and patriarchal domination. The aim of this work is to theorize about the categories of race and gender, in an intersectional perspective,in the reproduction of inequalities in the distribution of urban land in the global south, and specifically in the community of Coque from our personal experiences (one resident and one researcher, both members of collective initiatives in the community). |
