| Sumario: | The main goal of this paper is to propose a useful conceptual framework for thinking about fake news in testimonial exchanges in complex epistemic environments. The paper shows that, in a social environment strongly marked by diffuse social interactions, in which fake news emerges or can potentially emerge, new epistemic requirements, whether internalistic or externalistic, for acquiring rational belief and knowledge arise. This is also an integrative literature review, which intends to sum up the state of the art in this debate. The paper begins by exploring the phenomenon and the notion of fake news. Then, it examines the impact that the elements arising from the new informational environments have on the epistemology of testimony. It concludes the inquiry with general lessons for the epistemology of testimony, in particular, brought to light by the conceptual framework outlined. |
