Sumario:This research was based on theories and legal documents about the youth in conflict with the law and empirical research, by interviewing young people who had served socioeducational sentences in the Internment Units from Socioeducational Services Center for Teenagers Foundation - CASA Foundation. We collected some data from these young people in both educational and home environment situations by using the semistructured interview. We tried to describe and understand their notions about school and family to know the relations they have established with their family and regular school. Before the interviews, there was a systematic observation process, registered in field notebooks, at the same time as the teenagers still had their freedom restricted. While the researcher was the principal of a regular school with access to the Socioeducational Internment Units, it was possible to prepare the research field due to the interaction between him and these teenagers. Both institutions, CASA Foundation and regular school, as well as these young people s homes were located in the west of São Paulo city. The most important theoretical references to the data analysis were Paulo Freire s pedagogical studies, José Luis Vieira de Almeida s studies on street children and representation concept, also Darcy Ribeiro, Pierre Bourdieu and Marcos Luiz Cumpri s contributions on the cultural anthropology and sociology.
