Sumario:This text is an essay, a reflection on the future of education thought in times of accelerated changes, marked by the uncertainty of our societal era. Envisioning education in 2050 is not an easy task as forecasts are never exact. However, anchoring the current development of science and technology is a solid starting point for understanding the world around us and drawing horizons that explain how to act and live in the near future. Thus, in this prospective exercise, we reflect on what may happen to the school and its actors, seeking to answer the starting question: What will education be like in 2050? The essay contains four topics: (i) predictions, futurism and science; (ii) thinking about Education of the future: is technology an ally?; (iii) education versus algorithmic sovereignty; (iv) emancipatory education. It begins by approaching uncertainty and seeks to show the importance of science to understand what is changing in the relationship between human beings and technologies, understanding that these are much more partners than enemies. Faced with the profound transformations orchestrated by nanotechnology, biotechnology, artificial intelligence and algorithms, there is a need for schools to prepare students for an uncertain life (liquid life), to deal with changes, learn new things and preserve their mental balance in situations that do not are family. In a future of virtual and algorithmic worlds, an emancipatory education is vital in order to contribute to the liberation and “hope” of human beings. What is expected of Education in 2050 is a future full of students who would graduate as citizens aware of their place in space and time. Subject students, actor students, builders students, co-entrepreneurs students, who, in their place of autonomous, free, conscious and creative creation, know how to handle technology in their favor and the communities, for the sake of sustainable development for this common house in which we live.
