| Resumo: | The objective of this work is to analyze the relationship between the absorption capacity and the innovation capacity of SMEs in the industrial sector. As for the methodology, the research is characterized as descriptive-explanatory, and as far as the means of investigation the research is field, whose stage occurred with procedures of quantitative data collection through the application of a cross-sectional sample survey. Initial descriptive categories about absorptive capability and innovation capability were retrieved from concepts based on the theoretical platform of research. We developed the descriptive analysis, using multivariate statistical analysis (modeling of structural equations) using the Partial Least Squares Path Modeling (PLS-PM) model, using Smart PLS® 2.0 software. The hypothesis tests reveal that to meet the research objectives, providing opportunities for future research, such as longitudinal research and the expansion of the research population.the capacity of absorption and of relevant form to the transformation of knowledge, exerts positive effect on the capacity of innovation.
