Descripción
Sumario:Senegalese migration to Brazil is connected to a series of actions that put severe restrictions on immigration, particularly in countries of the global North,  it is also part of a black migratory wave, attracted by the opportunities offered in the country between 2010 and 2015. This article deals with the production of a Senegalese musical diaspora in southern Brazil through the experiences, transits and musical collaborations of a Senegalese rapper in Porto Alegre. This study stems from a broader ethnomusicological research among African musicians settled in the state, carried out between 2018 and 2019. In the wake of a consolidated interest in ethnomusicology in the study of music and migration, we sought to explore the contribution these studies offered to a critique of territorialized notions of expressive culture. Participative ethnography showed that it is no longer possible to think about migrant musical practices only in terms of a ethnic community.
