| Sumario: | The coffee is one of the most important agricultural activity for the Brazilian agribusiness, as it generates wealth and currencies for the country. This is a perennial crop, it is critical that the deployment of the crop is started with seedlings of quality, seeking wherever possible, cultivars resistant to pests and diseases. One of the issues related to the quality of seedlings is the possibility of the spread of nematode, which attack the roots of coffee, and the prevention how best to control them. However, in areas already infested there is a need to use nematicides, which are highly toxic to humans and the environment, manage organic matter and also use seedlings grafted on to these genetic materials tolerant nematodes. Thus, the goal of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of the root stock Apoatã IAC 2258 (Coffea canephora Pierre ex Froehner) in mineral nutrition and development of coffee (Coffea arabica L.). The experiment was installed in greenhouse Federal University of Lavras, using the method of cultivation in nutrient solution. It used a factorial 7 x 3 + 2, with seven varieties of C. arabica L. (Palma II, Catucaí 2SL, Oeiras MG 6851, Obatã IAC 1669-20, Acauã, Topázio MG 1190 and Paraíso MG H 419-1), three types of seedlings (free-standing, self-grafted and grafted on to cultivate Apoatã IAC 2258) and two additional (Apoatã self-grafted and Apoatã foot-free). With the data collected was possible to conclude in general that the root stock used did not affect the absorption and translocation of nutrients. As the efficiency of use of nutrients, there was inferior to cultivate Topázio MG 1190, and superiority of Palma II in relation to the others. The seedlings grafted seedlings had performance similar to free-standing, not showing any kind of incompatibility. The root stock used - Apoatã IAC 2258 - has not shown any kind of influence, both on the part of cultivars used as the technique of grafting. In general, the cultivars that might be suitable for grafting were the Palma II, Obatã and Oeiras, can then be used in programs for production of coffee seedlings of grafted. |
