| Resumo: | This article aims to problematize the history of settler colonialism in the context of Portuguese colonial rule in Angola. Thus, starting from a more general analysis of settler colonialism on a global scale, we then focuson the history of the white settlementin Angola, highlighting the limits ofPortuguese historiography regarding thestudy of the white settlersociety. Furthermore, we analyzethe question of social and political identities of white settlers in Angolathroughout colonial rule and also during the struggle for independence. Finally we analyze the way how the memory of colonization has been incorporated in Angolan post-colonial national identity,by taking into account the policy of classification and preservation of the historical and cultural heritage of Portuguese origin in Angola. |
