Descripción
Sumario:This article discusses opportunities and difficulties when carrying out an ethnography with readers on the internet. The reflections come from a theoretical-methodological foundation directed to ethnography and reading practices, as well as from empirical experience through observation in fifteen online meetings of five reading clubs. It is expected to contribute to the expansion of methodological alternatives for the investigation of contemporary reading practices through an anthropological and communicational perspective. In this path, the opening to the relationships established with the readers throughout the ethnographic work, the crossing of platforms in the mediation of reading and the non-demarcation of dualisms between online and offline stand out. Thus, in an ethnography of reading in the digital context, it is necessary to pay attention and reflect on the possibilities and limitations of the environment and how this impacts relationships with readers.
