Descripción
Sumario:This study discusses the way in which the multimodal nature of rap creates representations of local and global cultures (ANJOS, 2005), providing the rapper subject from Maringá with identity. This is carried out through the interpretative analysis of “Renewable Poetic Remnants” (Resquícios Poéticos Renováveis, 2016) and “Thank You” (Obrigado, 2018), by Ivan Marinheiro. Focus is placed onto verbal, musical and visual languages of the video clips in consonance with the areas related to multimodality (JENKINS, 2008 l KRESS; VAN LEEUWEN, 2006), the hip-hop movement (GESSA, 2010 l SOUZA; FIALHO; ARALDI, 2005) and identity studies (BAUMAN, 2005 l HALL, 2006). It is determined that the rapper’s apparel and performance, the musical references presented and sound effects locate his production in the rap global culture, while the background of the music video recording, the choices related to oral aspects and the themes addressed by the poems represent the local culture of Maringá.
