Description
Summary:The relation between sustainability and fashion is recent and it has an intimate connection with life. This approach, occured at the turn of the 20th to 21st century, could be observed in the fashion industry where this relation is increasingly evident. Seeking to highlight this relationship, this article i) initially and in summary retakes main transformations occurred in this period with special attention to fashion and sustainability; ii) highlights the contexts in which THE system of textile fashion industry, such as fast-fashion and slow fashion, have been established; iii) deals with Brazilian fashion initiatives connected to this sustainable scope, and, iv) more specifically, it presents Flavia Aranha’s brand, which, based on these precepts, makes “viva clothes”, or “living clothes”, a concept that involves essential elements of the relationship highlighted here.
