Descripción
Sumario:This paper aims to contribute to the teaching of verbal agreement in the context of Portuguese as a mother tongue. Specifically, it aims to propose and evaluate an activity developed for third grade students at a military school in Rio de Janeiro. The research questions are: a) how does a conscious understanding of the rules underlying the standard form of verbal number agreement contribute to the development of communicative-discursive competence in the teaching of Portuguese as a mother tongue and b) what strategies can be used in the teaching of Portuguese to promote understanding of the importance of this knowledge. Understanding these rules contributes to the effective writing of text genres that circulate in more formal spheres and develop communicative-discursive and pragmatic competence. Paraphrasing, paraphrasing and linguistic analysis exercises are strategies to represent the content of verbal number agreement.
