| Sumario: | The present study aims at investigating the translation of metaphor in German films from a cognitive linguistics perspective. In order to illustrate the phenomenum and point out possible contributions to a translation theory, we used Conceptual Metaphor Theory of Lakoff and Johnson for the metaphor analysis and Relevance Theory of Sperber and Wilson to analyse the translation process. The following questions guided our investigation: What is the importance of metaphor for translation as a communicative act? To what extent can Conceptual Metaphor Theory and Relevance Theory contribute to the metaphor analysis and the Translation Studies? The study revealed the descriptive potential of both theories as a tool to metaphor comprehension and its translation. |
