| Summary: | This paper is part of a wider research in Greek reception at Curitiba in the end of 19th century and beginning of the 20th. The aim of the paper is to discuss the relationship among symbolism, life experience and modern Greek reception in a city which ancient Greeks have never been, however became part of local identity in Modernity. I shall focus in Dario Vellozo’s life and writings to propose how his way of understanding ancient Greek philosophy and literature promoted new experiences and possibilities of identity and sociability in Brazil during the first Republican period. |
