Descripción
Sumario:Positron emission tomography (PET) for small ani mals is widely used in preclinical studies and a extensive evaluation of the reconstruction methods and their parameters is necessary to optimize the ima ges obtained. The aim is to evaluate the reconstruction methods and parameters available in the CDTN / CNEN equipment and their influence on the image quality test. PET images were acquired from a simulator for image quality recommended in NEMA NU 4-2008. The simulator consists of 3 distinct regions and was filled with 18F to represent a whole body stu dy. The images were obtained and reconstructed by the LabPET 4-GE equipment and treated in AMIDE and PMOD software, using the 3 methods of reconstruc tion (FBP; MLEM and OSEM) with and without high re solution, when applicable. The images obtained with the iterative methods MLEM and OSEM present less noise when compared to those reconstructed by the FBP method, for any number of iterations. There are no significant differences between the resulting images of the different MLEM and OSEM methods neither between the analysis programs used. This work was able to know the reconstruction parameters and their influences on image quality to assist users in choo sing the most appropriate method for the routine of the service
