| Sumario: | The present work aims to present the construction of the Magalhães Pinto Stadium, popularly known as Mineirão, located in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil. In this study, the context of national sports policy stands out as a relevant factor in the process of building the stadium. Thus, like a football match, the article will be presented in two stages, in addition to ‘concentration’, with the intention of a brief presentation on the topic and ‘final whistle’ for the last considerations. First, an overview of national public sports policies will be made, with emphasis on the valorization of football in the state of Minas Gerais and then the construction and inauguration process of Mineirão. The research, in addition to the pertinent academic bibliography, used newspapers and magazines of national relevance. |
