| Sumario: | The article is an exercise in transcultural or intercultural reading of the Bible based on a Jewish Apocaliptic text. The author demonstrates how it is possible to rediscover oneself in the Scriptures while reading the text in a context of an indigenous community, as in the example of the Qom (also known as Toba), in northern Argentina. In this rereading history and myth fertilize each other and a new light helps to reinterpret the old text. The change experienced by the indigenous people helps them subsist, but at the same time it is a sign of their resistance to assimilation by the dominant society. Their proposal is a theology of interlocution based on a fruitful dialog with the community taking seriously into account their interests and questionings. In the end, the author points out that such a Biblical reading questions the dominant power in such a way that this intercultural reading provides new strengths to a people who fi nd themselves in a vulnerable situation. |
