| Sumario: | The objective of this research is to analyze and compare hip joint flexibility in exercising and non-exercising individuals. This study is characterized as cross-sectional and descriptive. Participated in the research 29 individuals practicing exercises (GPE) and not practicing exercises (GNP), with ages between 19 and 48 years of both genders. As research instruments, the flexibility protocol from Sanny's Fleximeter User Manual was used. There were four positions and movements used in the test, namely: flexion, extension, adduction, and abduction. The statistical treatment was performed using the SPSS® program, version 16.0. Student's t-test was used for statistical analysis and the significance level adopted was p<0.05. At all moments, it was possible to analyze that the GPE obtained higher flexibility numbers than the PNG, however, showing significance only for adduction (p<0.001). It is concluded that individuals who practice physical exercises obtain higher flexibility values compared to sedentary individuals. Thus, it is necessary to stimulate the practice of regular physical exercise, not only to achieve higher values of flexibility, but as a useful tool for health care and performing activities of daily living. |
