Descripción
Sumario:This article aims to contribute to the historicization of gender violence in Brazil based on the analysis of cases of “crimes of passion” present in the periodical Archives of the Judicial Asylum in Rio de Janeiro in the 1930s, when such crimes acquired the status of a social problem with the effervescence of public debates about it. Thus, through psychiatric reports, jurisprudence and opinions from the Penitentiary Council of the Federal District published in this periodical, the text analyzes the reification and naturalization of violence against women within the scope of forensic psychiatry in Rio de Janeiro and its confrontation with other positions.
