Descripción
Sumario:The aim of this research is to present, in a brief way, an onomastic-toponymic study on the occurrence of the term Buritiand its variants in one of the twelve regions of the Minas Gerais state: the Central Mineira Region. For this analysis, we followed the references, theoretical and methodological, proposed by Dauzat (1926) and by Dick (1990a; 1990b) to the Toponymy, and methodological procedures adopted by the ATEMIG Project - Minas Gerais state toponymic Atlas - which our synchronous data come from. The toponymic data analyses showed that the formation of the toponomastic space is closely connected to the environmental and social contexts of a group.
