| Sumario: | News is not a mirror of reality, but the result of a social and cultural construction based on multiple sources. This study discusses the influence of the press officie in the contemporary media; uses the content analysis method to investigate two press releases of the health field in the period of June 19 to July 19 of 2014; and analyses the respective coverage made by two major Brazilian and Portuguese newspapers. The analyzed categories were: 1) presence of narrative elements (narrator, characters, time, space and plot), in order to check the intention of telling a story in the press release and 2) characters construction, as an expressive form of persuasion of the use of the material by the journalist. The result suggests that the complex contemporary media scenery consists of sources, media relations and journalists and also by other social players, such as the non-governmental organizations, the celebrities and the social networks. |
