Descrição
Resumo:The review analyses the contributions of the book ¨Vender una ciudad. Gentrificación y turistificación en los centros históricos” [Selling a city. Gentrification and touristification in historic centres]". Published by the University of Seville in 2022, it contextualises the contribution of Dr. in Geography Ibán Díaz Parra of the University of Seville, within the debate between critical urban studies and decolonial perspectives. Through the intersection of gentrification and touristification in the historic centres of Mexico City, Buenos Aires, and Seville, the review highlights the book’s theoretical and methodological contributions, the use of qualitative and quantitative techniques, and its comparative approach. It also emphasizes the reconstruction of the trajectory of the concept of gentrification itself. Finally, critical observations are made regarding the proposed articulation between urban neoliberalism and the discourse of returning to the built city, as well as risks in certain critical perspectives and discussions about the circulation of policies.
