| Sumario: | This article refers to the theme of happiness science and analyzes the perception of happiness among students of the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), in the 2019-2020 academic semesters. Based on the theoretical contribution of utilitarianism and the instruments for measuring happiness used by positive psychology, a questionnaire with 30 questions was applied in a sample of 140 university students from different higher education courses of the same institution. The students answered questions about: perceptions about personal life, emotional health and social relationships. The content of the information collected may indicate the level of happiness and mental health at the time. The collected data were quantitatively grouped in the SPSS software® so that it could facilitate the analysis and interpretation of the answers. The results generally point to a significant percentage of unhappiness among the interviewees, and many use medications to control anxiety and stress. |
