Descripción
Sumario:The present research aimed at studying changes in ways of living and domestic habits, of rural families in the Zona da Mata region of Minas Gerais, focusing the municipality of São Miguel do Anta. Through a descriptive-explanatory approach, three groups of variables were examined: domestic infrastructure and services, consumption and communication technologies, and family consumption and sociability practices. The results indicated a process of transformation in the housing forms of rural communities, evidenced by changes in the residential patterns of the population. It was also found that access to technologies, practices, and goods linked to urban life is combined with the persistence of traditional elements and practices, highlighting processes of hybridization in lifestyles, where urban values and practices are incorporated while coexisting with habits and traditions typical of rural societies.
