| Sumario: | The research analyzes the different intellectuals who influenced the theoretical development of Gilberto Freyre and questions the idealized vision of Brazil presented by the author and his conception of social balance. It verifies how the theory of social integration and the notion of “racial democracy” are theoretically incorporated by Freyre. From this debate, it analyzes the contradictions of the Brazilian colonial formation, including the development of racism and the enslavement and persecution of Africans and Afro-descendants. |
