Sumario:Modernity and the aesthetics of shock in Walter Benjamin. This paper aims to build a critical understanding of the new forms of artistic perception that emerge from the problem of the crisis of experience within modernity. In fact, the axis of the crisis of modernity diagnosed by Benjamin lies in the idea that man is no longer capable of communicating or changing experiences supported by the values previously inherited from tradition. It is in this scenario that new forms of experience emerge, in the face of which modern man must construct a new sensibility supported by new categories, such as the crowd, audiovisual media, and the metropolis. This paper addresses a fundamental issue in Benjamin's thought: the perception of shock through Baudelaire's lyric poetry, understood as a historical-social artistic production that inspired Benjamin's original reflection on the transformations of perception in the modern era.
