| Sumario: | The study of soil micromorphology is a useful tool for detecting archaeological materials that archaeologists are unaware of in their excavations. The objective of this research is to present the results of Itapeva’s rock shelter, located in the southwest of the State of São Paulo, Brazil. The results are derived from the production of thin sections that describe materials from two different areas of the site, called excavation units D18 and G6, referring to the north and south area and pointed to the existence of an anthropogenic soil with differentiation in its compositions. The conclusion is that the formed sediment is a mixture of sand, ash, wood and clay with long deposition periods derived from human occupation and natural deposition. |
