Sumario:Tourism has grown considerably with respect to economic activity, that said, technology areas such as technology and marketing are allied to tourism, proposing a diversification of supply in tourist destinations through promotional actions and strategic planning. Thus, we chose the Barreirinhas tourist destination of the state of Maranhão, the municipality is the Lencois Maranhenses, known for its beautiful geographical space. And it is from this, that this work aims to analyze the marketing strategies and tourist promotion of Lencois Maranhenses and its current challenges and prospects under the vision of a tourism operator with franchises present in the states of Natal/RN and Fortaleza/CE, which are regions issuing tourists to the destination of lencois. The methodology has a qualitative approach, exploratory and descriptive, however, based on content analysis proposed the Bardin (2008), focusing on this research the aid in describing the results of the research obtained through the research instrument, questionnaire. The results show that there is a lack of communication between tourism operators and the secretary of tourism of the state of Maranhão with regard to actions to promote tourism in Lencois, resulting in difficulties in the disclosure of the destination of tourism in the region.
