Descripción
Sumario:This dissertation aims to analyze the construction of the narrative of Leite Derramado (2009), a novel written by Chico Buarque. The intention is to reflect on the narratorcharacter Eulálio Assumpção, an old centenarian, who, from the process of remembrance, tells his story and that of his family. The speech is incomplete and the narrative presents confusions of times, spaces and characters, generating instability, reflecting the memorialistic condition of the mind of the elderly. This one, being given to daydreams, lapses and forgetfulness, activates in the reader a certain distrust about the reports presented there. Such a literary work is characterized, therefore, by a profound experience of memory, present from the first page to the last. For the study of the novel we used a bibliographical methodology. Thus, the dissertation is divided into three chapters. First, a survey of the critical fortune of Leite Derramado was carried out, with the intention of confronting different opinions such as those of Leyla PerroneMoises, Roberto Schwarz, Marcelo Mirisola, among others. Then, the analysis deepens in the narrative study, bringing to the discussion the difference between author and narrator (obvious, but not so much), reflections on the role and typologies of the narrator, in addition to strengthening the theory on narrative focus. In this second chapter, we used Genette's theory (1995) as a subsidy, mainly on the narrative focus and characterization of the narrator; by Todorov (2006) and Pouillon (1974) also concerning narrative focus; by Sandanello (2015), on the problematic narrative based on exclusively extraliterary elements; and also from Booth (1980), on his theory of the implied author. The last chapter presents a deep analysis of Buarque's novel, presenting the characterization and classification of the narrator Eulálio, in addition to its functionality in the narrative. Themes such as: the importance of the old subject, the unreliability of speech, the rhythm of the narrative and the memory of the narrator are also discussed there, based on discussions already promoted by Halbwachs (2006), Bosi (1994), Eco (1994) and Moisés (2008).
