| Sumario: | The provocation to talk about the 50 years of the book Pedagogia do Oprimido shares the challenge of thinking about Brazilian education in a context characterized as a “time of uncertainty”, established in the country since 2016. In theoretical terms, we discussed in this article, the freriana pedagogy that reinvents itself in the dynamics of social reality, finding inspiration and renewal over the years. A pedagogy that feeds on the objective transformation of the condition of oppression and the action of social subjects on the world to transform it. Hence, we start from the following question: Who are the oppressed today? For this question, we embark on the text with reflections on the current context in Brazil and the challenges that arise in “what to do” as a crucial point of educational action. From these reflections, we emphasize the timeliness of the book in question and why Paulo Freire continues to bother, while awakening the interest and social/political/educational commitment of educators and social activists. |
