Descripción
Sumario:In this essay, I seek to expose the Canadian sociologist Erving Goffman's concepts and ideas and how they are or can be incorporated by the field of music education. For this purpose, I begin with a descriptive example of my teaching experience in private music classes that took place at home, in order to reveal minute details of the relationships and behavior of those involved. Soon after, I discuss the author's biography, his main works and I bring the speech of scholars who present the impacts of his research for the most diverse areas of knowledge. Then, I seek to identify how Goffman is used in the field of music education, listing some international research published in scientific journals, in addition to presenting a synthesis of the three most cited works in these works. Finally, in the final considerations, I return to the main points addressed in this essay and deal with the possibilities of using this author in the field of music education.
