Descripción
Sumario:This article contextualizes the challenges of sexual and gender minorities in employment and work relations in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. A quantitative study was performed using a structured questionnaire that was answered based on convenience and availability. 133 of the responses collected met the criteria of considering themselves LGBT+ and live in Belo Horizonte. The sample was made up of gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgender, among others. Data were analyzed through basic statistics and lexical content analysis. It was found that 0.33 is unemployed or in the informal market, 0.37 earns up to a minimum wage monthly and only 0.16 affirms to be highly respected in the work environment. Most do not know any pro-LGBT companies (0.57) and fear is the main reason for not coming out at work (0.55). Therefore, this article acknowledges the importance of inclusion and equality policies within the companies, so that this group experiences well-being at work, since they face daily difficulties, even when using the bathroom.
