We seek to analyze some public policies implemented, as well as the advances and setbacks in relation to the education of children in creches and preschools. We point out the contemporary problems of Early Childhood Education, trying to show how children have been captured by knowledge and power, attributing an essence to them and depoliticizing Early Childhood Education. At the end of the article, we try to answer the question: After all, what is Early Childhood Education for?
