Descripción
Sumario:This paper proposes applying to journalism studies the concepts of social worlds and conventions. Howard Becker originally developed these concepts to study how society is represented. The article postulates that newsworthiness could be seen as a conventional system, which provides the bases to a wider negotiation process between journalists, sources, public and the other collaborating people on journalistic production seen as major social act. Therefore, it seeks to present the possible contributions from a symbolic interactionist approach to understanding journalistic activity as dynamic and collective practice.
