Sumario:Since many Brazilians seem to misunderstand the procedures developed during the PRONAPA and PRONAPABA for collectinhg, classifying, and analyzing pottery (e.g, Noelli 1998:652) and their utility for reconstructing Amazonian prehistory (e.g. Funari 1995; Neves 1998; Wüst 1998), i appreciate this opportunity to explain the refinement of the methodology during the past three decades and some of the resulting interpretations.
