Resumo:The main objective of this study was to investigate how the structure of the experience of long-lasting conjugal love relationships is configured. With regard to specific objectives, the goals were: 1) to understand the nature of the long-lasting experience in conjugal love relationships; 2) to understand the dynamics of the relations among love relationships, conjugality, long-lasting experience and/or meaning of permanence; 3) to systematize the specificity of the apprehended experience in its connections with contemporaneity. To accomplish this endeavor, field research was conducted in the Greater Belo Horizonte area with people selected through objective criteria (intentional sample), who experience the referred relationship model. For the data collection, non-directive and semi-structured interviews were conducted to preserve the dynamics of the experience. In order to achieve a better understanding of the studied phenomenon and to compose this study, a detailed revision of the literature about love from a historic chronology, as well as an approach to some of its conceptions, were done. Posteriorly, contemporaneity was addressed in its assorted names according to a post-modern sociological perspective to set the context of the investigation. Having placed the love definitions and extracted the problem of the investigation, which arises from the current configurations of society and from how love is lived in it, the fieldwork was initiated. Excerpts from previously recorded and transcribed interviews, which more clearly revealed the phenomenon investigated, were exposed. The phenomenological analysis was used at this moment and contributed to the achievement of meaningful units, which were discussed more broadly after being synthetized in three axes: 1) the experience of long-lasting conjugal love as deprived of romanticism; 2) the experience of long-lasting conjugal love relationship as person structuring and 3) the experience of long-lasting conjugal love as openness. In the analysis of how the subjects elaborate their experience, it was possible to understand the structure as integrating non-romantic love and openness, which were articulated by the elements of safety and search for truth (knowledge).
