| Sumario: | On September 7th, 2021, it was celebrated 199 years of Brazilian Independence. The president Jair Bolsonaro and his supporters called out popular manifestations on social media, through the hashtag #7desetembro (September 7th), among others, while also staging an institucional coup. This article seeks to answer which were the narratives that have circulated around the hashtag on Twitter networks and to what extent the content found strengthens Jair Bolsonaro’s populist character on social media. For such purposes, this research is anchored on digital populism discussion and has turned to Social Media Analysys as well as Content Analysys as methodology. We collected 10 thousand tweets around the hashtag #7desetembro with the support of Netlytic tool. After working with the data we have identified 12 main clusters, from which we collected the textual data for posterior analysis. As results, we have found that there is an absence of debate on social media, with the circulation of redundant discourses within the Bolsonarist nerwork themselves. Finally, to some extent, it was pointed out that Bolsonaro uses the network strategically to strengthen his populist character, even though he is not always successful outside them. |
