| Sumario: | This study aimed to evaluate the sweet corn cob characteristics under different levels of nitrogen fertilization and irrigation depths in two cropping seasons in northeastern region of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. The experiment was conducted in of split plot scheme, having in the plots four irrigation depths (50, 75, 100 and 125% of crop evapotranspiration-ETc) and in the subplots, four nitrogen rates (0, 100, 200 and 300 kg ha-1) and in the sub-subplots, two cropping seasons (Winter/Spring and Summer/Autumn), in the randomized blocks design with four replication. The following characteristics were evaluated: straw number, ear length, ear diameter, kernels number per row, rows number, cob diameter, grain length, grains number and ear weight. Sweet corn showed higher ear quality at the Summer/Autumn season and was not affected by nitrogen fertilization. At the time Winter/Spring season, sweet corn should be irrigated with replacement of 85% of ETc, while in Summer/Autumn season with 50% ETc. |
