Sumario:The use of school culture gained momentum in investigations into the history of school institutions. In this article, based on studies of school culture, the problematization gravitated around possible categories to be used in a meso-analytical approach to the history of school institutions. With this, the aim is to suggest categories that can contribute to determine the spaces for dialogue and influence of the school institution. For this, the text presents a theoretical contextualization on cultural history and mesoanalysis, addresses the concept of school culture and its possibilities, as well as the concept and possible relationship of permeability categories in research in the history of school institutions. This approximation of concepts, as well as their problematization, takes place in dialogue with authors who expanded their studies from the perspective of school cultures and, in this sense, this text seeks to insert itself in the theoretical debate, aware of the non-exhaustion of the discussion of the concepts to be worked on.
