Descripción
Sumario:Objective: to discuss, based on Patient Human Rights principles, shared decision-making applied to adolescent patients. Methods: it is a theoretical research whose application was exemplified by the experience of nurses from a rehabilitation hospital in Federal District, Brazil. Results: Patient Human Rights, as a normative and theoretical principle as well as shared decision-making applied to adolescent patients, ensure the right to participate in the rehabilitation program, with positive impacts to health care outcomes. Conclusion: the recognition of adolescents as protagonists of their own health care, in addition to complying with human rights determinations, produces positive results, contributing to patient compliance, well-being, and reducing adverse effects and anxieties.
