Descripción
Sumario:This article explores the theoretical and epistemological foundations of education in the Inca Empire, known to indigenous peoples as Tawantinsuyu. It emphasizes that the educational process was oriented towards daily practices, agricultural work, and social life. Andean Epistemology validated knowledge based on its utility in solving problems in the natural, social, and spiritual worlds. Additionally, it highlights how some educational principles of the Inca Empire resonate with contemporary educational approaches, such as Dewey's active school and Piaget's Genetic Psychology, which emphasize practical learning and the importance of affectivity. Lastly, the article examines the role of Andean cosmovision, which marked the rhythm of the seasons through rituals and value-based principles: Kawsay (living), Yachay (learning), Munay (wanting), and Llank'ay (working). Recognizing the wisdom of ancient civilizations like the Incas enriches intercultural dialogue and promotes inclusive education sensitive to diversity.
