S. Peirce’s proposal for a digital telegraph code, (6) the reputation of the digital in the era of semiotic structuralism (Jakobson and Barthes), (7) the place of the digital in the framework of semiotic theories of the symbol (Peirce and Lacan), and (8) the decline of the prestige of digital codes with the post-structuralists (Baudrillard, Massumi, Stiegler).Este artículo examina los conceptos de lo digital y la era digital y presenta las siguientes reflexiones sobre el auge y la caída del prestigio de los códigos digitales binarios: (1) orígenes de la digitalización del alfabeto con el código pirotelegráfico de Polibio en la antigüedad griega, (2) invención de un código binario del alfabeto de máxima economía por Francis Bacon, (3) los códigos binarios del siglo XVIII (George Murray, John Gamble), (4) estructuras del código Morse casi digital, (5) la propuesta de C. S. Peirce para un código telegráfico digital, (6) la reputación de los códigos binarios en la era del estructuralismo semiótico(Jakobson y Barthes), (7) el lugar de lo digital en el marco de las teorías semióticas del símbolo (Peirce y Lacan), y (8) la declive de prestigio de los códigos digitales con los postestructuralistas (Baudrillard, Massumi, Stiegler).O artigo examina os conceitos do digital e da era digital e apresenta as seguintes reflexões sobre a ascensão e a queda do prestígio dos códigos digitais binários: a) as origens da digitalização do alfabeto com o código pirotelegráfico do Políbio na Antiguidade grega; b) a invenção do código binário do alfabeto de economia máxima por Francis Bacon; c) os códigos binários do século XVIII (George Murray, John Gamble); d) estruturas do código quase-digital Morse; e) a proposta de C.
