Descripción
Sumario:This study discusses traditional knowledge and its role in the production of the ethnic identity, using as reference the Sateré-Mawé indigenous people. The used methodology was bibliographical research of works that approach the themes of cultural identity and cosmology of the Sateré-Mawé. The traditional knowledge, also denominated ethnoknowledge or local knowledge, concerns the body of knowledge built and rebuilt inside a given traditional population. To the Sateré-Mawé ethnic group this body of knowledge goes through a process of resignification process that operates in the construction of the identity of that indigenous group.
