Descripción
Sumario:The purpose of this study was to share informations and reflections on how geographic scientific research carried out in Antarctica. This approach is based on the viewpoint of geographers who carry out Antarctic expeditions as members of the Terrantar Research Center/UFV. Antarctica has several possibilities for regionalization. Despite being an international territory destined for peace and science, there are geopolitical disputes. Studies on geomorphology make it possible to monitor glaciers and make paleoenvironmental reconstructions. Soil information is important for recording environmental contamination, monitoring permafrost, and helping to interpret lush and mysterious landscapes. Climate studies in Antarctica are important for climate change issues. Oceanic and atmospheric coupling between Antarctic and South America may lead to change precipitation and temperatures if global warming persists. Explore the geography of Antarctica has potential to be used in the teaching of Geography, which can be useful to attract students' attention and interest.
