| Sumario: | This study portrays and discusses the globalization and internationalization of higher education with an emphasis on one of the main aspects of the internationalization of education - academic mobility. Research in this area has grown substantially in recent years and some authors have stood out on the international stage, such as Altbach and Knight (2007); Gacel-Ávila (2005); Knight (2003, 2005, 2012) and Wilkins and Hubman (2012). In Brazil, several authors have also dedicated themselves to this theme, such as Carvalho and Maia (2014); Dias Sobrinho (2010); Lima and Contel (2011); Lima and Maranhão (2009, 2011); Miura (2006); Morosini (2006, 2014); Silva (2018); Stallivieri (2009, 2017) among others, and data from OECD and UNESCO reports support this study. Thus, from the perspective of different authors, this work aims to contribute to the discussion of the positive and negative aspects of internationalization, the contradictions that this theme raises and its implications for universities. |
