| Sumario: | This text consists on a theoretical essay that aims to carry out, from the Historical-Cultural Psychology, a reflection on the periodization of development in adolescence and youth in the Brazilian reality. It starts with a critique of the naturalizing conceptions of adolescence, understanding this period of development as historically constituted. It presents the understandings of adolescence and youth of Soviet Marxist authors, focusing mainly on the understandings on social situation of development and guiding activity. It contextualizes development in Brazilian society, highlighting the class, race and gender inequalities that constitute it, and raises questions on how such inequalities can condition the development process in adolescence and youth. Finally, it reflects on how the theoretical-methodological principles of the Historical-Cultural Psychology and its explanatory concepts about the periodization of development can contribute to the understanding of development in Brazil. At the same time, it indicates a possible challenge for the explanation, from these principles and concepts, of the particularity of the periodization of development in a society marked by structural inequalities. |
