Descripción
Sumario:In this text, we take as an object of reflection the marks left by the violent Brazilian military dictatorship (1964-1985) on the families of political prisoners, that were persecuted and disappeared, whose lives were taken by this horrible dictatorship. We seek to understand the consequences of these losses on the emotional, physical and social health of close relatives of those disappeared or murdered by the dictatorial government. We use, as a methodology, open interviews, also called “in-depth.” We rely on theoretical discussions about traumatic memory, mainly in the approach to individual-collective, social and biological traumatic memory to understand the process of violence from the State that affects, to this day, not only family members of the persecuted, but also the democratic and humanitarian bases of the entire society. From the reports of our interviewees, we observed that the impacts of the actions of the dictatorial State persist as a traumatic memory to this day.
